So you’re thinking of booking a wedding photographer and want to know how I go about capturing your big day? Read on!
Capturing your big day!
SO YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED!
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! Planning a wedding is extremely exciting and should be as stress free as possible, I want all my couples to feel confident in their choice of picking me as a photographer, which is why with any full day wedding package (10 hours or more) I offer a complimentary engagement shoot. This is a chance for us to meet up beforehand, get to know each other and see what works best for you, whilst also getting some beautiful photos for you to potentially use in the run up to your big day!
The big day has arrived and having shot over 40 weddings over 7 years, I know how stressful the morning can be. It’s normal to have balloons and clothes and half eaten croissants lying around, I’ve seen it all!
97% of the time I will be capturing the Bride getting ready, and if you have a second photographer included in your package then they will capture the Groom getting ready – valuable moments that you’ll spend apart and can look back at together.
In this space of time there is so much to capture! From the first flick of mascara to your bridal party helping you into your beautiful dress, your flowers being delivered to your loved ones in tears over seeing you in your dress for the first time – each moment is special and I aim to capture each one in the most beautiful and authentic way possible.
Arguably the most important part of the day! This is the moment everyone is here for the moment you become officially married, there’s so much that happens in this space of time – the first time you see each other, the vows, the ring exchange etc, and I try to capture it all in the most beautiful way possible whilst being as discreet as I can!
Whether it’s a church or outside gazebo, just to name a few examples, I try to blend in and be an un-disruptive as possible! (Being 5ft tall makes this easier.)
So you're officially married now! It's party time -- Almost. This is the most formal part of the day, and it's up to you how much or little you want! After the ceremony, when everyone is together, is the best time to get those all important group photos - I'll ask you to fill out a questionnaire and let me know what groups shots you want and then I organise the rest!
After the formal group photos, if time permits, I like to then take you both off to catch some couple portraits, and give you a breather from everything and bask in that just married euphoria.
You’ve made it! The stressful part is over and now it’s time to stuff your face, bust a move and celebrate the fact you are now married!
This is the time that I really take a step back and let all the moments fall into place naturally, all the formal photos are out of the way so all that is left is focusing on the most authentic moments that come with the Reception. From people mingling and taking selfies, to cake being cut and the couple shoving the delicious treat into the other’s mouth, all the tears and laughter that comes from the speeches and finally, that all important first dance. This is the only time I will hopefully use artificial light (unless you’re having your first dance outside in the middle off Summer, that would be awesome).
I stay a little after the First Dance, capturing people having a glorious time until I say goodbye and get straight into editing, usually having a sneak peak ready for you by the next day!
